On 10/05/2026, the 3rd General Assembly of the Association of Visual Artists of Crete was successfully held, in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue, collaboration, and meaningful exchange of views on matters concerning the artistic community and the operation of the Association.

Before the official opening of the assembly, we had the distinct honor and pleasure of connecting online with Thanasis Daradimos, representative of the Collective Management Organization for Works of Visual Arts and Applications (OSDEETE). His participation provided an important opportunity for information sharing and productive discussion regarding issues related to the intellectual property rights of visual artists — a matter of particular importance for professionals and creators in the field.

During the online meeting, the role and mission of OSDEETE were presented in detail. The organization serves as the competent collective management body responsible for the administration and protection of copyright and related rights of creators in the fields of visual and applied arts. OSDEETE operates both in Greece and internationally, aiming to safeguard, represent, and manage the rights of Greek visual artists, as well as those of its member beneficiaries.

Particular emphasis was placed on the ways in which OSDEETE protects the moral and economic rights of artists through licensing mechanisms, the collection and distribution of royalties, and the monitoring of the use of artistic works in both physical and digital environments.

At the same time, the international dimension of the organization’s activities was highlighted. Through specialized reciprocal agreements with corresponding collective management organizations abroad, OSDEETE ensures the protection and representation of foreign creators’ rights in Greece, while also safeguarding the rights of Greek artists internationally. This presentation offered valuable knowledge to the members of the Association regarding copyright protection, legal safeguards, and professional opportunities available to visual artists in today’s cultural landscape.

The General Assembly then proceeded according to its agenda, reaffirming the importance of collective participation, continuous information, and the strengthening of the visual arts community in Crete.
